About Me

Rosemarie Langtry is a contemporary visual artist working and teaching in her studio in Tullaghbeg, Clonmacnoise, Co Offaly, Ireland.

She is inspired by the nature that surrounds her home in the heart of Ireland – particularly rural and bog-landscapes, found and corroded man-made objects, and the abundant waterways her native county is known for. These inspirations are reflected in her highly evocative work, which creates a strong, organic sense of place when you view it. Her exhibitions, which have taken place all over the world, give voice to her unique perspective on the natural environment she works in, and the human remnants she recovers within it.

She works in  a variety of media including Encaustic, Mosaic, Stained glass, Abstract and Traditional painting. Rosemarie facilitating adults, children and community group art and craft workshops.

In the Moment… Hues and forms of the local landscape, rust and found objects combine to inspire my artwork providing an intriguing art form to encapsulate memories from bygone days.

Bog cotton, heathers and even decaying antiquities
become entwined within the layers of paint, melted wax and vibrant pigment to enthral and captivate the viewer with an air of mystique.

I recently attended an encaustic workshop with Rosemarie Langtry Artist. It was a wonderful experience. She had everything you needed which was great. It was a lovely creative workshop with no artistic skills needed. I created four beautiful pieces of art which are on display in my home. I’m getting wonderful comments about them. Rosemarie made us feel very welcome and she was full of knowledge. It was nice to meet new people and relax in a creative way for the day. I highly recommend Rosemarie’s workshops and I’m sure I’ve caught the Encaustic bug, so I’ll be back for more.

The first time I viewed Rosemarie’s artwork was at the Luan Gallery in Athlone. I was with a group of students and we all marveled at the organic beauty expressed in her encaustic designs. There’s a very evident sense of freedom and experimentation in Rosemarie’s work. You are enticed not just to view, but touch the pieces and become involved in their evolution. My own artwork has been influenced by Rosemarie and I have since attended her wonderful encaustic workshops. As a facilitator, she is nurturing and reassuring, whilst liberating others in their creativity. It has been a pleasure and an inspiration working with Rosemarie.

I got a mosaic voucher from my son and partner for Christmas to Rosemaire’s class.
From the time I met Rosemarie til I left way after finish time, I really enjoyed my day. I created a beautiful butterfly mosaic🦋, which has pride hanging in my kitchen. The time went so fast as Rosemarie has a fabulous way of explaining and helping with the mosaic making. Everything was set up for me, all the materials ready to go, nothing was a bother Rosemarie. I will definitely be back to try something else. Thank you for an amazing day, I loved it!! Keep smiling Rosemarie 😊

I came across Rosemarie’s work in the Luan Gallery and ordered a painting from her website in memory of my Mum, who was from the area. Rosemarie is so nice to deal with, very helpful & sent a lovely original card with the painting. I absolutely love the painting, the uneven surface changes with the light throughout the day and it transports me back to childhood days spent on the bogs of Co. Offaly. Extremely talented artist producing beautiful artworks.
